A few weeks ago I discovered O2 Gold. O2 Gold is what some runners describe as “a third lung.” Of course when I heard this I thought about all the times I had run with friends and at least one person wasn’t able to keep up with the conversation. Sometimes that person was me.
Last Tuesday, about an hour before I set out to run 8 miles, I took two O2 Gold pills. I was probably around mile 6 before I started feeling like the humidity was beating me. I will add, by the way, that it was about 85 degrees out when I ran, even though I didn’t start until 8:00 pm.
On Sunday I ran another 8 miles. The humidity was over 75% and it was close to 80 degrees when I set out to run 8 miles at 7:00 am. Trees lined the path and kept it shaded, but it was still hot. However, I felt great. Again, around mile 6 I realized that the humidity was winning the battle.
It is recommended that when taking O2 Gold, it is taken every 1-2 hours during exercise. Mile 6 of my run is about an hour into my workout, which is about 2 hours after I take the supplements.
October 12 sounds like a great day for a tough race, but what some may forget is that training through the Tennessee heat isn’t easy either!
